We are looking for a motivated SAR Engineer to support the analysis and performance assessment of advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) payloads for space platforms.
The candidate will contribute to the definition, evaluation, and optimization of SAR instrument concepts and operational modes, working closely with system engineers and multidisciplinary teams throughout the payload lifecycle.
• Perform analysis of SAR operational modes (e.g. Stripmap, ScanSAR, Spotlight, advanced modes) and related trade-offs.
• Contribute to SAR performance estimation and budgeting (e.g. resolution, NESZ, SNR, ambiguities, radiometric performance).
• Analyze the impact of system parameters (orbit, geometry, RF chain, digital processing) on overall SAR performance.
• Contribute to the study and evaluation of new or advanced SAR techniques and operational concepts.
•Develop, set up, and use analytical and simulation models to assess SAR system and instrument performance.
• Support requirement definition and verification from a SAR performance and analysis perspective.
• Interface with system, RF, digital, and AIV teams to ensure consistency between design choices and expected SAR performance.
• Participate in technical reviews, performance validation activities, and analysis-driven trade-off studies.
• Prepare technical documentation and analysis reports in line with project and customer requirements.
Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related scientific discipline.
·2–5 years of experience in SAR systems, radar analysis, or Earth Observation payloads.
·Knowledge of radar and SAR principles, including signal theory and imaging concepts.
·Experience in SAR performance analysis and estimation.
·Proven ability to set up and use simulation environments for SAR analysis.
·Proficiency in analysis and simulation tools such as MATLAB and Python.
·Familiarity with Earth Observation missions and spaceborne radar constraints.
·Understanding of the payload development process from concept studies through verification.
