MetaSensing is proud to unveil a significant milestone in the development of its cutting-edge radar payload, PhoeniX, which is now progressing rapidly toward deployment aboard a foreign satellite SAR constellation.
As a compact, high-performance X-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system, PhoeniX represents a new benchmark in small satellite payload technology. It is designed to deliver up to half a meter resolution imagery in multiple acquisition modes, including Stripmap and Spotlight, enabling high-fidelity Earth observation across a wide range of applications, from environmental monitoring and agriculture to defense and infrastructure intelligence.
The radar electronics and antenna architecture have been optimized for low power consumption, reduced mass, and maximum versatility, making PhoeniX ideal for new space missions that demand agile and efficient payloads without compromising performance.
As part of the rigorous development cycle, PhoeniX has recently completed its STM (Structural and Thermal Model) and QM (Qualification Model) validation phase, successfully passing mechanical vibration tests that simulate launch stresses and thermal vacuum tests to verify performance and structural integrity under space-like environmental conditions. These tests were essential in confirming that the mechanical design and thermal management systems of the payload are ready for the next critical step.

With the STM test campaign now concluded, the MetaSensing team has moved on to the final integration of the Proto-Flight Model (PFM), which is undergoing final assembly, functional testing, and environmental qualification to ensure full compliance with space mission requirements. Delivery of the PFM is scheduled for Q2 2025, marking a decisive moment in the mission timeline.
This achievement is not just technical—it is symbolic of MetaSensing’s relentless pursuit of excellence, from engineering precision instruments to delivering mission-ready systems in tight timelines.
“The PhoeniX payload reflects years of research, development, and commitment to excellence. We are proud to see it taking shape as part of such a visionary project,” said MetaSensing’s CEO. “Our collaboration with satellite SAR constellation owners highlights the global nature of today’s space missions, and we’re excited to see PhoeniX become a cornerstone of a new SAR constellation.” As PhoeniX moves closer to launch, MetaSensing remains focused on delivering innovation from the lab to orbit—one payload at a time.
As the countdown to delivery continues, PhoeniX stands as a powerful symbol of what can be achieved when global talent, advanced engineering, and a shared vision come together with purpose.
