Italian radar company MetaSensing has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Saudi space-tech company SARsatX to establish a strategic framework for cooperation in the development and localization of spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) payload technologies, supporting local manufacturing and capability building in Saudi Arabia.
SARsatX is a Saudi industrial space-tech company that designs, develops, and operates satellites for Earth Observation using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and optical sensors. Through its EarthLife platform, the company transforms high-resolution, all-weather satellite data into actionable intelligence supporting sectors such as energy, security, and defense.
The MoU aims to combine MetaSensing’s advanced capabilities in space-qualified SAR payload development with SARsatX’s expertise in SAR sensor design and data provisioning, through joint development, technical integration, and knowledge transfer in the Earth Observation domain.
The cooperation also includes exploring future joint projects, technical collaboration, and coordination on business development and market-entry strategies, strengthening both parties’ presence in the Earth Observation and remote sensing sector.
Adriano Meta, CEO of MetaSensing, stated:
“This collaboration is of strategic importance to MetaSensing. On the one hand, it allows us to actively support the technological development of the region, particularly in the field of advanced SAR technologies; on the other, it significantly strengthens our international presence in Saudi Arabia. The MoU enables MetaSensing to contribute concretely to the growth of the local space and Earth observation ecosystem through knowledge sharing and structured technical cooperation with SARsatX, with the aim of enhancing and developing local industrial and technological capabilities.”
Amru Alamoudi, CEO of SARsatX, commented:
“This MoU represents a key step in advancing the localization of spaceborne SAR technologies in Saudi Arabia. By combining MetaSensing’s space-qualified payload expertise with SARsatX’s capabilities in radar sensor development, we aim to strengthen national capabilities, support local manufacturing, and contribute to building a sustainable and competitive space ecosystem in line with Saudi Vision 2030.”
Both parties emphasized that this MoU represents an important step toward strengthening international technical partnerships, supporting the space ecosystem, and contributing to the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in innovation, industrial development, and advanced technologies.
