Il suo concetto comprende due satelliti identici che orbitano in convoglio con un satellite radar Copernicus Sentinel-1. Ogni satellite Harmony \u00e8 stato progettato per trasportare un radar ad apertura sintetica (SAR) di sola ricezione come strumento principale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lo scopo principale di questo difficile esperimento aereo, coordinato dall'ufficiale tecnico dell'ESA Julia Kubanek, \u00e8 quello di imitare la geometria con cui i satelliti Harmony misureranno vari aspetti della dinamica oceanica per capire come interagiscono l'aria e la superficie dell'oceano, il che, a sua volta, migliorer\u00e0 le previsioni meteorologiche e i modelli climatici.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La campagna aerea, organizzata ed eseguita da MetaSensing, prevedeva l'impiego di due sistemi SAR polarimetrici aviotrasportati all'avanguardia, chiamati MetaSAR-C, su due piattaforme aeree indipendenti per replicare la geometria interferometrica di Harmony. Il team scientifico SAR della Delft University of Technology nei Paesi Bassi \u00e8 guidato da Paco L\u00f3pez-Dekker, che \u00e8 anche il ricercatore principale di Harmony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nel complesso, la campagna aerea MetaSensing WaddenSAR \u00e8 un esempio entusiasmante di come la tecnologia radar avanzata possa essere utilizzata per studiare e proteggere gli ecosistemi pi\u00f9 fragili del nostro pianeta.
